Troop Tribune for 08-24-17

This Week’s Meeting Theme
This week’s meeting will be all about bike safety (yes we’re back in the gym!).  This is important safety considerations for anyone that rides a bike, not just for those going on the campout!

New Troop Leadership
Congratulations to all newly elected or appointed troop leaders!  TLT (Troop Leadership Training) and Planning is scheduled for Saturday, September 2nd, from 8:30-12:30, at HPC in rooms 14/15 (the rooms usually occupied by committee on Thursdaymeetings).  All new leadership must attend. If you cannot make it, please notify your SPL, Chris Radle to let him know.

Next Outing
Our next outing is this weekend!  We are going biking on the bike trail near Yellowsprings, Ohio.  The campout will be held at John Bryan State Park.   Note: Both road bikes and mountain bikes are welcome.  Helmets and water bottles will be a must.  We’ll have a fast group and a more leisurely group, so all skill levels are welcome.  After biking we’ll visit the world famous Young’s Dairy for some great ice cream!  Cost will be $30 per person and sign-ups will be at the meetings.

We have a great fall planned as well.  September is a rock climbing campout, October we will be attending the Fall Camporee at Camp Friedlander, and November we will be returning to Ft. Ancient and Big Al’s Turkey Campout the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Trade Skills Day
Trade Skills Day at Camp Friedlander will be Aug. 26 from 8 -5. Cost is $30 per Scout. Unfortunately, this is the same weekend as our troop campout.  If you are not attending the campout and are interested, they are offering all the hands-on requirements for the Welding, Electricity, Plumbing, Metal Working, Painting and Auto Maintenance merit badges. Scouts can pick one merit badge for morning session and one in afternoon. Lunch will be provided.
