Mulch Fundraiser
The mulch fundraiser is complete😊
LOTS OF THANK YOU’S TO GO AROUND….

  • those that turned out at the start of the morning despite the rainy forecast,
  • those that  stuck with it through the rain/hail/lightening/flooding/wind,
  • all of the drivers that were patient enough to wait out the storm and keep our boys/families safe,
  • the scouts and parents that devoted the full day and didn’t leave until 7pm,
  • those that responded to the One Call and ran to our rescue to get the last few pallets delivered,
  • those that kept the food coming to fuel all the hard working bodies,
  • those that fielded phone calls/complaints/problems etc.,
  • those that loaded 195 pallets of mulch onto trucks, onto trailers, into pickups,
  • those that drove chase cars and trucks,
  • those that lifted those incredibly heavy bags of WET mulch and stack them nicely on the driveways,

The point is, we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help – it is greatly appreciated!!
Rhonda & Gary

Mulch pay-outs will take a couple of weeks to finalize since we have to wait for all of the bulk orders to be delivered this week and collect receipts/invoices for all expenses.  We will get a letter out to each Scout once it is finalized.  Anyone that has receipts for reimbursement, PLEASE turn them in ASAP.

This Week’s Meeting Theme
This week’s meeting is our Spring Court of Honor!  Don’t forget to come and be recognized!

First Year Theme
First Years will be participating in our Court of Honor.

Next Outings
May, 2017 will be a Survival Skills campout.  Sign-ups will be available at this week’s meeting and next week.  Cost is $25.  Come and work on your survival skills, with minimual camping gear, different foods to try, and skill challenges like BB Guns, Archery, Tomahawk/Spear throwing, and more!

Spring Camporee Reimbursement
Troop reimbursement policy asks that all requests for reimbursement be turned in the month following the campout.  If you would like to be reimbursed for the spring camporee campout expenses, please complete the “Troop 750 – Reimbursement Request Form” (found on Troop 750 – Mason, OH website), attach receipts and give to our Treasurer, Mark Washington or Spencer Beeching at the next meeting.  If you are unable to make the meeting, please scan and email to Mark Washington at mwashington3@cinci.rr.com.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mark Washington via email or call (513) 234-8453.  Thank you.

Backpacking Events
Our next backpacking trip is this weekend, a great two night trip to Zaleski State Forest held on May 5-7th for scouts second year and above.  This trip will allow you to see that we actually have some hills in Ohio.  We plan to leave the church at 5pm on Friday the 5th and will return by 1pm on Sunday the 7th.  Cost is $10 and signups will be at this week’s meeting or email Mr. Hayes and Mr. Swartz. GRHayes@dow.com orkswartz1989@gmail.com

For our Philmont crews, we have several upcoming hikes planned to prepare for Philmont. Please make every effort to attend as many of these prep hikes as possible. While these hikes are primarily intended to help prepare scouts and scouters attending Philmont, they are open to any scouts second year and above with the approval of Dan Clabbers, Gary Hayes, or Ben Zumkehr.  If you are attending Philmont, we need you on the trail NOW.  Time is running out!

It’s That Time Of The Year!  Annual Swim Check Time
BSA requires annual swim checks for all Scouts and Scouters!  You need to pass the swim test every year to participate in any water related activities.  This includes summer camp!  If you did not make it this past Sunday (recovering from mulch delivery!!!) the Troop has the Mason Community Center reserved for Sundays May 21, June 4, and June 11 from 2:00 to 4:00.  There will be no cost for members, non members will be charged $7.  This will allow swimming after you have finished the Swim Check.  Non members need to complete a waiver.  Countryside YMCA in Lebanon will also be offering BSA swim checks, free for members, $5 for non-members.  More details to follow.

To qualify as a Swimmer you need to jump into the pool and swim 100 yards.  The last 25 yards must be using the resting or elementary back stroke.  Then float on the back for 1 minute.  To qualify as a Beginner you need to jump in and swim 25 feet then turn around and swim back.  Please make sure to sign-up for one of these checks if you plan on attending any of our water related campouts or summer camp.

Summer Camp Update!
For Summer Camp, we will need Part C of the BSA Health Form completed and signed.  The second payment of $140 will be due no later than May 25th.  Please see our Treasurer, Mr. Washington.
