Troop Tribune for 04-13-17

This Week’s Meeting Theme
This weeks theme is a fire building session.  The meeting will be held outdoors since we can not use the gym this week.  Please plan and dress appropriately for the weather!!!  We also plan on our annual Order Of The Arrow callout ceremony so if you were eligible, please plan on attending to be recognized!

Next Outings
April, 2017 will be the Hopewell District Spring Camporee at Camp Friedlander and Camp Craig. Mark your calendars now for a fun event at Camp Friedlander scheduled for April 21-23.  Cost is $35/scout/scouter that attends.  The event will include Patrol skills competitions, OA Call Out and Campfire and a Movie.  Sign-ups will be at the meeting.  This Thursday will be the LAST DAY to sign-up, so please make sure your name is on the sign-up sheets if you plan on attending!

BSA 101 Reimbursement
If you would like to be reimbursed for BSA 101 campout expenses, please complete the “Troop 750 – Reimbursement Request Form” (found on Troop 750 – Mason, OH website), attach receipts and give to Mark Washington or Spencer Beeching at the next meeting.  If you are unable to make the meeting, please scan and email to Mark Washington at mwashington3@cinci.rr.com.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mark Washington via email or call (513) 234-8453.  Thank you.

Court of Honor
Our Spring Court of Honor is coming up fast!  It’s the first week of May.  In order to prep the program and awards, our advancement cutoff to be included in our Court of Honor will be April 20th.  Please plan on completing all rank advancements or merit badges by then.

Backpacking Events
There is a Backpacking trip planned to the Red River Gorge April 14 -15th.   We will meet at the church on FRIDAY, April 14th, at 11:45am for a 12:00pmdeparture.  We plan to return to the church on Saturday afternoon about 3pm.  First time backpackers, please bring packs fully loaded to the meeting on Thursday for a shakedown of your packs.  We want to make sure you have everything needed to have a great experience with us.  This is a dry camp so 3 Liters of water won’t be enough for this trip.  Hanson’s Point is worth carrying a little extra water to see the sun rise over the Gorge.

For our Philmont crews, there is also a Philmont training hike at Red River Gorge April 14th – 15th.  Meet at the church at 11:45am on FRIDAY for a 12:00pmdeparture. We plan to be back to the church late Saturday afternoon. This hike is intended only for those scouts and scouters attending Philmont this summer.

Please see Mr. Hayes, Mr. Clabbers, or Mr. Zumkehr for any details or specifics on the hikes/backpacking trips.

Sea Base 2018
Scouts that have signed up and paid their deposit for Sea Base are on the list for their first choice program.  We do have a waiting list for scouts for Out Island, and those scouts have been contacted individually.  We have 1 open spot for sailing if someone wants to join that crew.  Please contact Mr. Peischl or Mr. Clabbers if you have any questions.

Adult Volunteer Recognition
Thank you for all your support and commitment to the troop.  We are growing in size, and parents and volunteers contribute so much in so many ways … big and small.  Because we know there are many things our adults do to keep the troop going, we’d like to find creative ways to show our appreciation throughout the year.  We may send a thank you note, make a comment in the Tribune, or even a personal “thanks” or pat on the back at a meeting.  There are lots of ways to say thanks.

So, this week, we’re sending out this email to you to ask if there is anyone you’d like us to recognize and thank for their help, support or just being so kind they make the meetings and campouts better!  Really, there’s no specific formula to who qualifies for a thank you, just let us know who we can thank.  Please email the comment to ranae.wright@gmail.com.  We’ll send a thank you note and find good ways to show our appreciation.  Also, If you have ideas on how you think we could recognize parents, please let Ranae know at the same address as above!  Have a great day, and THANK YOU for being part of our Scout Family.
