January 12, 2019 @ 7:45 am - 3:00 pm
Meet at the shed at 7:45am, leaving for Cub World no later than 8:00am. Looking ahead to the forecast, the roads will be slick and snow-covered, so please give yourselves a few extra minutes to get to the church. Our first sled starts at 9am, and our second sled will start sometime after 10am. The races typically takes a couple of hours to run, so plan on being back at the church sometime in the early afternoon. Temperatures are going to be in the high 20s tomorrow, so dress warmly and wear layers. Remember that cotton is strongly discouraged as it retains moisture and can quickly lead to hypothermia. Every scout must bring the following:
– Warm Clothes (layers are best)
– Sturdy Footwear
– Socks (second pair to change into after the race is encouraged)
– Water bottle (please fill before arriving)
You will not be allowed to run the race if you are not dressed properly for the weather.
As part of the participation fee you’ve already paid, every scout will receive a hot dog, bag of chips, and cup of hot chocolate. There will be additional food items for purchase for a small fee. Scouts can also bring a bag lunch or snacks to eat on the trail.
There is a winter storm warning in effect for tomorrow morning, and expectations are we could see up to 6 inches of snow. If for any reason we need to postpone or cancel the event, we will send an email out to this distribution list and post on the Troop Facebook page. Please be careful on the roads tomorrow morning.
If you have any questions, text/call Ben Zumkehr at (513) 602-8843.
